Charming Walls

This June has been crazy amazing with all the beautiful couples and sexy weddings and I feel like the event's creativity this year has completely set the bar! Since so many new loft/gallery type spaces have opened and become accessible for events, a lot of our clients have taken advantage of these "blank canvas" spaces to dress it up in their style. And I really love that, because everyone is always intrigued and fascinated and don't think it's just another wedding... especially when the guests exclaim, "this is the best wedding I've been to!" You know you've done well!

Since I had loft + gallery events on my mind, I started looking for some artwork suitable for one of my client's fun, eclectic sensibility... instead of dressing the walls up with drapes, we're going with something more minimal, mixing their artwork with photography pieces and other mixed media to create a custom art gallery curated by our very own couple! To contribute, I came across two fun pieces from charming wall based in NY, which sells prints from local artists. Can you imagine the above prints sweetly accompanied by antique black frames against a red, exposed brick wall? So fresh and modern w/ a traditional twist!

Do your part, save the planet!

"One reusable shopping bag eliminates 300-500 plastic bags from our landfill. We can alter our habits for a healthier planet!

The United States is perhaps the last country in the world that does not use reusable shopping bags.

Join in on the campaign. Your business can advertise and promote your services or products through reusable shopping bags. REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE!" - sagegreenbags.com

For our wedding couples, you can order from sagegreenbags for your welcome bags, guests gift bags.

Great "TAST.ES"

They say you eat with your eyes and I am guilty, oh so guilty. I can't even tell you the amount of times I have picked up a certain food item because I liked the color, packaging, graphic design, or simply the way the food was plated.

At events, we've planned some pretty cool ways of integrating food into events that have drawn out some 'oooohhhs and ahhhhhs'... and I've also seen some pretty interesting food presentations to say the least that may or may not have been appetizing, depending on your POV. (case in point, what did you think when you watched SATC in the theaters, Samantha and her sushi?)

Anyway, the reason I bring this up is because I came across this lovely set of serving plateware by TAST from notcot. Although disposable, I can't help but be in love with its sleek lines and modern, minimalist styling that makes the food look so deliciously tempting. This rates 4 stars fresh!

You could probably put some mushy, overcooked brown beans in the TAST spoon and it would look like a culinary masterpiece. Granted, while TAST is in Barcelona, there's a new, similar line that's being rented for events (reusable and non disposable) in the US. Hallelujah!

Placemat that Pops!

Sometimes simple is better. This incredibly charming pop up placemat (made from 100% recycled paper) keeps it simple and interesting. And, even though paired with a stark white plate in the picture above, it makes quite a statement and gives a hint of nostalgia. There's different placemat versions, too, available with pop-up cherry trees or even the perfect white picket fence.

This song is soooo you!

A few years back, there was an email chain going around that was as ubiquitous as reality tv is today. It was appropriately titled, "the Soundtrack of Your Life" and asked people to list songs that spoke to them during different moments of their lives. Were you one of them who filled it out an blasted it to everyone you knew? If so, this post is dedicated to YOU!

One of the things I love about weddings is that each wedding has its own soundtrack reflecting each couple and their journeys that have led them to the moment of union.

To create your own wedding OR event soundtrack, I highly recommend using Pandora, an amazing free radio service that allows you to listen and discover new artists and songs that have similar musical qualities of the artists and songs that inherently speak to you.

For example, type "Ave Maria" and you get tons of different versions from artists across several genres. You want a Rockin' Ave Maria to walk down the aisle to? No problem!
